CLIENT | University Office Interior Design – Open new branches and remodel existing branches.
Challenge: A major Southern California university has utilized the products and services of NBI for over 25 years. We have been able to procure products for them ranging from educational and office to auditorium and food service as well as conference and multi-purpose. Servicing a campus as large as a small city over a quarter-century has required us to stay ahead of the technological and service-industry curve, supplying the latest and greatest in innovations for them.
CAMPUS STYLE
Various disciplines ranging from the sciences to the liberal arts requires a vast range of furniture products, and NBI has the resources to satisfy those needs. We have successfully remodeled several schools of learning on campus, some ongoing for years as budgets allow. .
Our design team worked closely with our manufacturing partner, using our combined industry experience with our other university clientele to determine not only what had worked best in the past, but what would work well in the future. Office design evolves as technology advances, and flexibility is required to accommodate change. Sit/stand adjustable height worksurfaces need to be accommodated, so we utilized desk-top devices as an option where required. Historically, elevating the station height so as to allow overhead storage and make use of the leased cubic foot was the norm, but currently the trend is toward collaboration with lower panel heights.
The other key factor in associates’ comfort and productivity is the chair they sit in. We proposed several options in different price ranges, and brought out chair samples for them to use in their actual work environment. Worker safety and comfort is always uppermost in our planning and implementation, and the elimination of any worker comp claims is our watchword. Any chair we recommend must have a wide and sturdy enough base to avoid tipping; the main cause of claims.
Follow Through Is Standard With Every Project.
We regularly bring sample furniture out to them so they can use our products in a normal work setting over a period of time to ensure that comfort and expectations are satisfied. We will also have meetings with the individual end-user to be sure that they understand the function and operation of the item.

With our local factory, we have complete control over the design and manufacture process. Nothing is left to chance, and nothing is made outside of our purview. Our installers actually make the product, and our clients like the fact that we can actually fly our crew out to install in areas outside of Southern California. Being in business for over 36 years has allowed us to establish relationships with dozens of installation partners, and we have the entire country covered!
We stock locally the furniture they use so it is always readily available for them within days of ordering. It is high-quality, super durable, and available in multiple finishes. At a very competitive price-point, the ongoing work is well-within their budget. We supply all types of furniture for them, and we have a flexible-back stacker supplied to them for their large, multi-purpose meeting auditoriums.
